Small antique Japanese advertising box with drawer decorated with original typography and graphics, dating to the early–mid Showa period (circa 1930–1960). Boxes of this type were commonly used for storing or transporting commercial goods, particularly pharmaceutical products.
The piece retains its original red and black printed decoration with Japanese characters and a stylized graphic figure forming part of the product’s visual identity. The name Kororin appears on several sides of the box and on the drawer front.
It is made from Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) combined with printed paper applied to the surface, a technique typical of mid-20th century Japanese packaging design. The interior drawer has a simple and functional construction.
The surface shows a warm aged patina with signs of wear, including minor losses in the printed decoration that contribute to the authenticity and vintage character of the piece.
Today this box can be used as a decorative object, small storage box or collectible related to the history of Japanese graphic design and vintage packaging.
