Industrial galvanized-metal storage container, most likely a farm trough or service reservoir, originally from central Europe and dated to the early twentieth century. A functional piece sitting between a garden furnishing and an industrial workshop accessory, representative of utilitarian artisan-industrial furniture at the turn of the century.

In the farms, workshops and service spaces of central Europe at the turn of the twentieth century, galvanized-metal containers were omnipresent tools: they were used to store water, grain, fresh food, tools or sundries. Galvanizing — an industrial protective-coating process — offered corrosion resistance and facilitated cleaning. The generous scale and robust character of this piece suggest intensive use, likely in a farm or large house with substantial gardens.

It is built in laminated steel coated with original galvanising, with a rectangular body of robust walls riveted or welded by period technique. The edges are reinforced with folded metal bands — characteristic seals of early twentieth-century welding. It features iron handles or wrist grips to facilitate transport, and the base is flat and fully functional. The construction lacks ornament, reflecting the sober logic of early industrial metalwork.

The patina shows the character of aged galvanising: the surface retains layers of bluish, silvery and golden oxide, with some areas of surface corrosion enriching the visual reading organically. The original galvanising has faded partially in friction zones, revealing the underlying steel, conferring very characteristic tactile and visual texture. The structure is completely sound.

For its functional scale and industrial-rustic character, it sits naturally in loft interiors, contemporary gardens with material sensibility, garage or studio spaces, modernised rural homes, where it works as a visible storage container, a monumental planter for large plants, a pedestal for sculptures, a work-table with presence or a decorative element adding industrial texture. Its presence is always prominent.
