Antique long bench-table in pine wood, traditional Chinese furniture originating from Shandong and dated circa 1900. Originates from Shandong, in eastern China, from the late 19th century, where local pine was worked using mortise-and-tenon joinery without nails, with elongated tops and a carved frieze on the apron.

In the rural houses and courtyards of Shandong, bench-tables served as a multi-purpose surface: courtyard table, communal bench during meals, food preparation base or working surface. Their length allowed several people to gather and their intermediate height placed them between table and bench.

Built in solid pine using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, without nails. The top, formed by longitudinal planks joined edge to edge, rests on four square-section legs. The front and lateral aprons carry a carved low-relief frieze with stylised vegetal motifs running the full length. The carpentry preserves the simplicity of rural eastern furniture.

The patina retains the deep tone of aged pine, with legible grain and visible knots. The sheen is matte and the carved frieze is defined by raking light. The surface shows marks, traces of intensive use and small losses integrated into the wood. The structure remains solid.

It fits naturally in contemporary rustic interiors, country houses, informal dining rooms or covered terraces. It works as a low living-room table, an entrance bench or a long console. Its horizontal line and the carved frieze give it presence without imposing itself.
