This antique sideboard in pine wood features two doors with double-moulded perimeter frame and a recessed central field. It originates from northern China, from the late Qing dynasty, where pine was worked using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.

Narrow two-door sideboards were pieces in continuous use in urban houses of northern China. They served to store everyday items in the main room, in inner rooms or in passage areas. The simple structure — two doors, a lower band, integrated base — made them functional pieces without decorative pretension, everything resting on the quality of the woodwork.

The body is built in solid pine. The structure is a rectangular volume closed by two identical doors with a double-moulded perimeter frame and a recessed central field. Below the doors runs a lower band with a plain panel. The pulls are hand-forged iron, with a circular ring secured by rivet. The construction is traditional Chinese mortise-and-tenon, without metal fasteners. The base rests on integrated legs.

The patina shows a naturally aged pine tone, with visible grain and soft chromatic variations between boards. The frame mouldings have darkened slightly with handling; the centre of the doors keeps a lighter tone. The hardware presents stable oxidation. The top surface bears soft use marks.

With a length of 170 cm, a depth of 40 cm and a height of 88 cm, this sideboard fits living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and vestibules. It works as a storage piece or as a low service sideboard. It brings a sober presence to wabi-sabi, japandi, contemporary rustic and serene interiors.
