This antique sideboard in pine wood features two doors with a profiled perimeter frame and a recessed central panel. It originates from China, from the mid-twentieth century, where pine was worked using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery while keeping the classical typologies of the Qing dynasty.
Chinese furniture from the mid-twentieth century preserved traditional constructive logic with a more sober formal language than late Qing pieces. Tall two-door sideboards of medium height remained the standard typology for family living rooms and dining rooms, now with cleaner surfaces and less decorative carving.
The body is built in solid pine. The front comprises two identical doors with a profiled perimeter frame and a recessed central panel, set between vertical uprights. Below the doors a low rail closes the composition. The pulls are circular hand-forged iron rings. The construction is traditional Chinese mortise-and-tenon, without metal fasteners.
The patina keeps a warm natural tone with the pine grain visible. The top surface shows the natural figure and the characteristic knots. The most exposed areas — top edges, corners, door perimeters — have acquired a darker tone through handling. The iron hardware presents stable oxidation.
With its 94 cm height and contained 154 cm length, this sideboard works as a storage piece in living rooms, dining rooms, entrances and bedrooms. It suits wabi-sabi, japandi, mid-century, contemporary rustic and Asian-inspired interiors.
