This antique kitchen table in solid wood is a rustic table with a drawer, a thick top and an H-stretcher base, on four square-section legs. It originates from Central Europe, from the early twentieth century, where solid wood was worked with traditional joinery for everyday furniture.

Kitchen and work tables held the heart of the rural home, as a surface to prepare, eat and gather. Their sturdiness answered to intense, continuous use.

The top is solid wood of good thickness, with a front drawer fitted with a porcelain knob and a base braced by H-stretchers. The joints are tenoned and the structure is stable and notably heavy.

The patina is warm and worn, a chestnut tone with the grain visible and use marks on the top. The surface reads as living, not over-restored, wood.

For its proportion and table height, it serves as a compact dining table, a kitchen table or a rustic desk. It fits country, contemporary rustic and eclectic interiors, where it brings warmth and an honest surface.
