This antique painted kitchen table in pine wood is a rustic table with a drawer, a pine top and a painted base, on square-section legs with stretchers. It originates from Central Europe, from the early twentieth century, within folk kitchen furniture.
Painted kitchen tables held the centre of the rural home, as a surface to prepare and eat. Their front drawer kept everyday utensils.
The top is solid pine, left on view, on a painted base with a front drawer fitted with an iron pull and reinforcing stretchers. The joinery is traditional and the piece is stable.
The mustard paint of the base shows the wear of use, while the top keeps the grain and marks of the natural pine. The patina reads authentic, with no repainting.
For its contained size, it serves as a kitchen table, a side table or a rustic desk. It fits country, contemporary rustic and eclectic interiors, where it brings warmth and an accent of colour.
