This antique painted chest of drawers in pine is a drawer cabinet with painted fronts and ceramic knobs, on bun feet. It originates from Central Europe, from the late nineteenth century, within painted folk bedroom furniture.

Painted chests of drawers kept household linen and presided over the rural bedroom. The colour contrast between body and drawers was a common decorative device of folk furniture.

The body is solid pine, with two short drawers over three long ones, set on wooden runners, with fluted corners and turned bun feet. The knobs are ceramic and the construction is solid.

The paint pairs blue fronts with a cream body, with wear that reveals the wood at edges and knobs. The patina reads authentic, with no repainting to mask it.

For its capacity and its colour, it serves as a bedroom chest, an entrance piece or an accent storage piece. It fits rustic, country and eclectic interiors, where it brings character and a touch of colour.
