Antique Japanese industrial work table made of iron and solid beech wood, produced in Japan during the early Showa period, circa 1950–1979. The table features a sturdy metal frame, two enamel-front drawers and a solid wooden work surface with a slatted lower shelf.
During the Showa era, particularly after World War II, Japan experienced rapid industrial growth. Workshops and small factories relied on durable furniture designed for everyday practical use. Tables like this were commonly found in carpentry shops, mechanical workshops and small manufacturing environments.
The structure is made of painted iron, now displaying a naturally aged industrial finish that reflects decades of use. The top and lower shelf are crafted from beech wood, a durable hardwood often used in workshop furniture for its strength and stability.
Two white enamel-front drawers with metal handles provide functional storage while adding a distinctive industrial aesthetic. The slatted lower shelf offers additional storage space and reinforces the structure of the table.
The piece retains an authentic industrial patina, including wear marks, enamel loss and light oxidation on the metal surfaces, all consistent with its original workshop use and adding to its character.
