These compact storage cabinets were part of everyday Japanese interiors and were commonly used to store documents, seals, personal belongings or small work tools.<\/p>\n<p>The piece features a compact and sturdy structure reinforced with <strong>hand-forged iron fittings and protective corner plates<\/strong>, characteristic of utilitarian Japanese furniture designed for frequent use. The front includes <strong>two drawers fitted with iron handles<\/strong>, while the upper section opens through a <strong>hinged lid with a carrying handle<\/strong>, revealing a spacious interior compartment.<\/p>\n<p>Paulownia wood was traditionally preferred for this type of furniture due to its light weight, dimensional stability and resistance to humidity and insects.
