Une pi\u00e8ce aux proportions basses et \u00e0 la facture soign\u00e9e, \u00e0 mi-chemin entre la <em>table basse de salon<\/em> et la <em>table d&#8217;appoint de tatami<\/em>, repr\u00e9sentative du <em>mobilier rustique du nord de la Chine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Le kang \u2014 plateforme sur\u00e9lev\u00e9e et chauff\u00e9e qui servait \u00e0 la fois de lit et de banc \u2014 a \u00e9t\u00e9 le centre de la vie domestique dans le nord de la Chine pendant des si\u00e8cles. Des tables basses comme celle-ci y \u00e9taient pos\u00e9es pour manger, \u00e9crire, boire le th\u00e9 ou jouer. L&#8217;\u00e9chelle r\u00e9duite n&#8217;est pas un caprice esth\u00e9tique mais la r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 un usage quotidien tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis.<\/p>\n<p>Elle est construite en orme (yumu), avec un plateau moulur\u00e9 et un tiroir frontal muni d&#8217;une poign\u00e9e d&#8217;anneau en fer forg\u00e9. Les \u00e9coin\u00e7ons lat\u00e9raux et l&#8217;\u00e9coin\u00e7on inf\u00e9rieur se terminent par des d\u00e9coupes sculpt\u00e9es en silhouette de queue de poisson, seul geste ornemental de la pi\u00e8ce. L&#8217;ensemble de la structure est assembl\u00e9 par tenons et mortaises traditionnels, sans clous ni adh\u00e9sifs modernes.<\/p>\n<p>La patine est chaleureuse et profonde, avec des marques d&#8217;usage visibles sur le plateau et sur les \u00e9coin\u00e7ons. De petites usures sur les ar\u00eates, des n\u0153uds sombres et de fines fissures d&#8217;\u00e2ge t\u00e9moignent d&#8217;une pi\u00e8ce authentique, qui a accompagn\u00e9 des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de vie domestique avant d&#8217;arriver \u00e0 la galerie.<\/p>\n<p>Par son \u00e9chelle basse et son caract\u00e8re retenu, elle s&#8217;int\u00e8gre naturellement dans les int\u00e9rieurs wabi-sabi, japandi ou minimalistes, o\u00f9 elle fonctionne comme table basse de salon avec assises au sol, table \u00e0 th\u00e9 pr\u00e8s d&#8217;un futon ou pi\u00e8ce de support devant un banc bas.
