Cette ancienne console<\/strong>\u00a0en pin massif<\/em> pr\u00e9sente un tiroir frontal \u00e0 panneaux sculpt\u00e9s<\/em> et une frise inf\u00e9rieure ajour\u00e9e. La surface conserve une patine multicouche singuli\u00e8re : une couche ext\u00e9rieure sombre laissant affleurer le cinabre rouge d’origine. Chine, vers 1930.<\/p>\n

Dans les maisons rurales du nord de la Chine, les consoles de hauteur moyenne se pla\u00e7aient dans le vestibule ou flanquaient le kang du salon. Elles servaient de surface d’appui et, parfois, de table d’offrandes pour l’encens. Le pin \u2014 bois abondant au Shanxi \u2014 \u00e9tait le mat\u00e9riau habituel hors des contextes courtisans.<\/p>\n

La construction est solide et honn\u00eate : plateau form\u00e9 de deux planches larges \u00e0 bord moulur\u00e9, tiroir frontal \u00e0 panneaux \u00e9vid\u00e9s, frise ajour\u00e9e \u00e0 motifs de fl\u00e8che et de ligne, \u00e9coin\u00e7ons d\u00e9coratifs aux angles et pieds carr\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u00e9g\u00e8re courbure \u00e0 la base. Les assemblages sont en mortaise et tenon, sans clous.<\/p>\n

La patine raconte la vie de la pi\u00e8ce : couche ext\u00e9rieure sombre, cinabre rouge d’origine affleurant sous l’usure et un caract\u00e8re \u00ab \u516d \u00bb (six) sculpt\u00e9 \u00e0 un angle \u2014 probable marque d’inventaire domestique. Cette accumulation de couches est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment ce qui donne son caract\u00e8re au mobilier provincial chinois.<\/p>\n

Elle fonctionne bien dans une entr\u00e9e, comme console \u00e9troite sous un miroir ou comme table d’appoint dans un salon. Son \u00e9chelle moyenne la rend compatible avec des int\u00e9rieurs non particuli\u00e8rement grands, et la patine vivante apporte de la chaleur aux palettes neutres ou terreuses.<\/p>\n
