Ce buffet<\/strong>\u00a0en pin massif<\/em> se distingue par son \u00e9chelle g\u00e9n\u00e9reuse et par ses deux portes frontales \u00e0 panneaux encadr\u00e9s au profil festonn\u00e9<\/em>. La ceinture inf\u00e9rieure reprend le m\u00eame travail ondul\u00e9 que les portes. Chine, vers 1950.<\/p>\n

Le grand buffet de salon assurait dans les maisons du nord de la Chine la fonction centrale de rangement domestique : nappes, vaisselle, linge de maison. La forme \u2014 deux portes sur ceinture ondul\u00e9e, sans pieds visibles \u2014 r\u00e9pond \u00e0 la tradition Qing tardive maintenue par la menuiserie rurale durant toute la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du XXe si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n

La construction est enti\u00e8rement artisanale : pin massif en structure, fa\u00e7ades et c\u00f4t\u00e9s, assemblages en mortaise et tenon, panneaux flottants en cadre pour absorber les mouvements du bois. Le plateau sup\u00e9rieur est d’une planche continue aux bords l\u00e9g\u00e8rement biseaut\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

La patine actuelle offre une teinte miel-marron chaleureuse, sans peinture appliqu\u00e9e, avec des marques honn\u00eates au niveau de la quincaillerie et des points de manipulation. La finition d’origine a vieilli sans alt\u00e9rer la lecture du veinage.<\/p>\n

Il fonctionne exceptionnellement bien comme buffet de salle \u00e0 manger ample, meuble de rangement de salon ou pi\u00e8ce de pr\u00e9sence dans une entr\u00e9e. Sa hauteur proche du m\u00e8tre et sa longueur de 157 cm requi\u00e8rent un certain espace, mais offrent en \u00e9change une capacit\u00e9 de rangement importante.<\/p>\n
