Shanxi, Chine, vers 1920.<\/p>\n<p>Le mobilier peint du nord de la Chine atteignit un raffinement notable durant la transition Qing-R\u00e9publicaine. Au Shanxi, les motifs v\u00e9g\u00e9taux \u2014 fleur de lotus, chrysanth\u00e8me \u2014 se combinaient avec des \u00e9l\u00e9ments du r\u00e9pertoire lettr\u00e9 \u2014 livres, pinceaux, calligraphie auspicieuse \u2014 pour composer des panneaux \u00e0 vocation symbolique : long\u00e9vit\u00e9, puret\u00e9, culture. La fleur de lotus renvoie \u00e0 l&#8217;id\u00e9e bouddhiste de la puret\u00e9 n\u00e9e de la boue et s&#8217;associe traditionnellement au souhait d&#8217;une descendance prosp\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>La structure est en pin massif avec une fa\u00e7ade \u00e0 quatre portes, poign\u00e9e-anneau en fer forg\u00e9 et ceinture inf\u00e9rieure droite. Le plateau, laqu\u00e9 noir, conserve des restes de d\u00e9coration peinte aujourd&#8217;hui estomp\u00e9s. Les peintures des panneaux frontaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ex\u00e9cut\u00e9es sur fond clair pr\u00e9alablement pr\u00e9par\u00e9, avec des pigments min\u00e9raux sur laque fine.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;\u00e9tat de conservation des peintures est notable : la composition florale centrale maintient sa lisibilit\u00e9 et ses nuances \u2014 le bleu cobalt du vase, le vert olive des feuilles, la calligraphie chinoise en noir. Les zones de frottement pr\u00e9sentent l&#8217;usure honn\u00eate \u00e0 laquelle on s&#8217;attendrait dans une pi\u00e8ce d&#8217;un si\u00e8cle d&#8217;usage domestique.<\/p>\n<p>Il fonctionne comme pi\u00e8ce centrale de salon, salle \u00e0 manger ample ou vestibule.
