Il provient du nord de la Chine, de la fin de la dynastie Qing, o\u00f9 l&#8217;orme massif \u00e9tait travaill\u00e9 selon un assemblage traditionnel \u00e0 tenons et mortaises.<\/p>\n<p>Dans les maisons des provinces du nord, les longs buffets \u00e0 trois portes se pla\u00e7aient dans la pi\u00e8ce principale et servaient \u00e0 ranger la vaisselle, les textiles et les ustensiles quotidiens. La structure avec plateau central en relief constitue une variante sobre de la typologie, sans panneaux peints, o\u00f9 l&#8217;expression repose enti\u00e8rement sur le bois et sur le rythme des encadrements.<\/p>\n<p>Le corps est construit en orme massif, avec un plateau compos\u00e9 de trois planches assembl\u00e9es en bout. Les fa\u00e7ades pr\u00e9sentent trois portes identiques \u00e0 cadre p\u00e9riph\u00e9rique et plateau central en r\u00e9serve. Les ferrures sont en fer forg\u00e9 \u00e0 la main, avec poign\u00e9e circulaire fix\u00e9e par rivet. L&#8217;assemblage est traditionnel chinois \u00e0 tenons et mortaises, sans visserie. La traverse basse est droite et les pieds descendent \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9querre jusqu&#8217;au sol.<\/p>\n<p>La patine conserve des traces de la polychromie d&#8217;origine : un pigment grenat couvre partiellement les encadrements et laisse entrevoir l&#8217;orme dans les zones d&#8217;usage. Le plateau sup\u00e9rieur montre le dessin naturel du veinage, avec de douces variations de ton chaud. Les ferrures pr\u00e9sentent une oxydation stable. Cette superposition \u2014 bois, pigment r\u00e9siduel, oxydation \u2014 donne la lecture honn\u00eate du temps sur un meuble domestique de longue usage.<\/p>\n<p>Par sa longueur de plus de deux m\u00e8tres et sa hauteur de 96 cm, ce buffet a une pr\u00e9sence importante. Il convient aux grands salons, salles \u00e0 manger et longs couloirs. Il s&#8217;int\u00e8gre dans les int\u00e9rieurs wabi-sabi, japandi, rustiques contemporains et pi\u00e8ces d&#8217;inspiration asiatique.
