Il provient du nord-ouest de la Chine, de la fin de la dynastie Qing, o\u00f9 le sapin \u00e9tait travaill\u00e9 selon un assemblage traditionnel \u00e0 tenons et mortaises.<\/p>\n<p>Le mobilier domestique du corridor du Hexi associe la technique chinoise continentale \u00e0 un vocabulaire d\u00e9coratif g\u00e9om\u00e9trique d&#8217;origine locale. Les pi\u00e8ces \u00e0 plateau fixe ou \u00e0 charni\u00e8res et \u00e0 fa\u00e7ade sculpt\u00e9e servaient \u00e0 ranger textiles, v\u00eatements d&#8217;hiver et objets de la maison. La frise v\u00e9g\u00e9tale continue \u00e0 la partie basse de la fa\u00e7ade est un trait identitaire des pi\u00e8ces de la r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n<p>Le corps est construit en sapin massif. La fa\u00e7ade est divis\u00e9e par cinq panneaux carr\u00e9s en r\u00e9serve, avec des rosaces rayonnantes au centre. Une frise fine court au-dessus et une frise v\u00e9g\u00e9tale plus large avec motifs foli\u00e9s entrelac\u00e9s court en dessous. Les flancs montrent les assemblages d&#8217;angle apparents et un panneau lisse. La base repose sur une plinthe continue. L&#8217;assemblage est traditionnel \u00e0 tenons et mortaises, sans visserie.<\/p>\n<p>La sculpture est creus\u00e9e \u00e0 la gouge dans l&#8217;\u00e9paisseur de la fa\u00e7ade. La patine conserve le ton blond clair du sapin, avec de l\u00e9gers fon\u00e7ages sur les zones les plus expos\u00e9es. La frise v\u00e9g\u00e9tale capte l&#8217;ombre et accentue le rythme. L&#8217;ensemble s&#8217;est maintenu en usage continu et pr\u00e9sente des marques mineures : petites fentes longitudinales, ar\u00eates adoucies.<\/p>\n<p>Par ses proportions \u2014 259 cm de long sur 86 cm de haut \u2014 cette pi\u00e8ce a une pr\u00e9sence importante. Elle peut occuper le centre d&#8217;un grand salon, un buffet de salle \u00e0 manger de grand format ou un rangement de long couloir.
