Il provient du nord-ouest de la Chine, de la fin de la dynastie Qing, o\u00f9 le sapin \u00e9tait travaill\u00e9 selon un assemblage traditionnel \u00e0 tenons et mortaises.<\/p>\n<p>Le mobilier domestique du nord-ouest de la Chine associe la tradition constructive continentale \u00e0 un vocabulaire d\u00e9coratif g\u00e9om\u00e9trique d&#8217;origine locale. La sculpture plane r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e \u2014 losanges, frises, motifs foli\u00e9s entrelac\u00e9s \u2014 couvre la surface sans interruption et constitue une marque r\u00e9gionale reconnaissable. Des buffets de ce type se pla\u00e7aient dans la pi\u00e8ce principale des maisons rurales.<\/p>\n<p>Le corps est construit en sapin massif. La fa\u00e7ade se divise en trois panneaux carr\u00e9s en r\u00e9serve sculpt\u00e9s de motifs g\u00e9om\u00e9triques en relief plat, s\u00e9par\u00e9s par des montants verticaux \u00e9galement sculpt\u00e9s. Au-dessus et en dessous des panneaux courent des frises v\u00e9g\u00e9tales sculpt\u00e9es. La traverse basse pr\u00e9sente un profil \u00e0 double onde. Les ferrures sont en fer forg\u00e9. L&#8217;assemblage est traditionnel chinois \u00e0 tenons et mortaises, sans visserie.<\/p>\n<p>La patine pr\u00e9sente un ton clair blanchi, r\u00e9sultat du vieillissement naturel du sapin et de la perte de la finition d&#8217;origine. La sculpture conserve sa d\u00e9finition d&#8217;origine et les frises gardent leur dessin parfaitement lisible. La surface du plateau sup\u00e9rieur montre le grain naturel du bois avec de petites fentes longitudinales propres au temps.<\/p>\n<p>Par sa longueur de 165 cm et sa hauteur contenue de 84 cm, ce buffet s&#8217;adapte aux salons, salles \u00e0 manger, entr\u00e9es et couloirs. Il fonctionne comme pi\u00e8ce d\u00e9corative centrale, comme meuble bas de rangement ou comme appui dans les pi\u00e8ces amples.
