Le couvercle s&#8217;ouvre par des charni\u00e8res sup\u00e9rieures avec une fermeture simple. Il provient de Pologne, de la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du XX\u1d49 si\u00e8cle, o\u00f9 le pin \u00e9tait travaill\u00e9 selon un assemblage \u00e0 tenons et mortaises et fini \u00e0 la peinture \u00e0 l&#8217;huile domestique.<\/p>\n<p>Dans les maisons rurales de l&#8217;est de l&#8217;Europe centrale, les petits coffres comme celui-ci servaient \u00e0 ranger objets personnels, petits outils ou documents. La peinture appliqu\u00e9e en couches fines sur le pin et le plateau int\u00e9rieur compartiment\u00e9 appartiennent au registre domestique paysan, o\u00f9 le meuble remplissait une fonction purement utilitaire avant d&#8217;\u00eatre d\u00e9corative.<\/p>\n<p>Le corps est construit en pin massif. La structure est un volume rectangulaire ferm\u00e9 \u00e0 couvercle abattant, mont\u00e9 par assemblage \u00e0 tenons et mortaises sur cadre interne. \u00c0 l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur, un <em>plateau amovible<\/em> en pin non peint repose sur deux traverses horizontales. La charni\u00e8re frontale et la fermeture sont en fer forg\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>La peinture bleu-vert gris\u00e9e montre une usure honn\u00eate : la couche s&#8217;est \u00e9caill\u00e9e sur de larges zones laissant voir le pin brut et des couches plus anciennes de pigment. Cette lecture stratifi\u00e9e \u2014 peinture, \u00e9caillage, bois \u2014 est l&#8217;un des traits les plus appr\u00e9ci\u00e9s du mobilier rural peint d&#8217;Europe centrale. Les ferrures pr\u00e9sentent une oxydation naturelle stable.<\/p>\n<p>Par sa petite taille \u2014 55 \u00d7 32 \u00d7 30 cm \u2014 ce coffre fonctionne comme bo\u00eete de rangement d\u00e9corative, support sur une commode ou accent chromatique sur une \u00e9tag\u00e8re.
