This antique Chinese storage cabinet in wood with two doors, one lower drawer and brass ring pull, is a domestic storage piece from northern China around 1900. Originates from northern China, from the late Qing period, where local wood was worked using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Two-door auxiliary cabinets were common storage pieces in Chinese homes during the Qing period. Their tall, narrow format made them suitable for small spaces or corners.
The carcass is of solid wood with mortise-and-tenon joinery. The two doors carry rectangular slot pulls. The lower drawer has a brass ring pull. The wood retains traces of original finish in dark reddish tones.
The wood patina is dark and even, with greater wear on the door edges and drawer. The original finish is partially preserved in the less exposed areas.
This cabinet suits japandi, wabi-sabi or rustic contemporary interiors. It works as a small bedroom wardrobe, larder or auxiliary storage piece.
